In 2018 he has given a three day international laser course in Fortaleza, Brasil where he demonstrated the technique on 25 patients via video transmitted live surgery.
Blocked Nose and Chronic Sinusitis
Having a blocked nose is a very common symptom. It is often difficult to tolerate for many patients, since they have to breathe through their mouths much of the time. The three commonest causes are a deviated nasal septum, large nasal turbinates and chronic rhinosinusitis.
ENT Laser Surgery
The great benefit for the patient regarding laser surgery of the nose is that we do not need any tiresome and annoying nasal packing as well as the better healing process and the fact that we could do the surgery out-patiently.
Pre- and Post-operative information
We would normally suggest one day for pre-operative examination, including initial consultation with endoscopy and doing a full cone beam computertomography at our practice. That will also include the pre-operative consultation with the anaesthesiologist. The next day we would do the surgery. For sinus surgery, septoplasty and laser turbinoplasty, the operation takes place under general anaesthetic. The surgery would take place at a special day-clinic where you would also stay for a couple of hours after the surgery for post-op monitoring. Over the next two to four days we strongly recommend follow-up consultations again at our premises.
We do have some nice hotels in my town and if you like we could help you with the booking. After nasal surgery you should keep in mind that the nose is blocked. The nose usually feels swollen inside, like having a cold. Decongestant and salt water sprays are prescribed to help this sensation, which lasts for about a couple of weeks post-op. You should not do any physical exercise for at least three weeks but you usually can return to white-collar work after some days.
Paying for Your Care
If you are covering the costs of your own care we will ensure that you know how much you should expect to pay. Depending on your needs, you may need to pay for different kinds of examinations including a cone beam CT and surgical laser treatments. We will always be upfront about the costs so that there won’t be any surprises when you see the invoice.
Our assistent, Frau Heidi Müller, will be happy to discuss fees and methods of payment at the time of making the appointment.
